Should I use acronyms or spell them out?

Each industry has unique terminology, acronyms, and abbreviations. Whether to spell out acronyms and abbreviations comes down to several factors. First, is the terminology or acronym widely used and widely understood as an acronym or abbreviation? Examples Second, is this terminology or acronym used within the job description and criteria without spelling it out? If so, then using the acronym or abbreviation is probably okay. However, if the job description spells out the acronym or abbreviation, especially without using the acronym or abbreviation (e.g. using “certified nursing assistant” but not “CNA”), then it is probably be best to spell out everything followed by the acronym or abbreviation in parentheses to ensure the ATS will credit you
