The purpose of ATS is to provide the recruiter with a rank or score for each re
sume submitted based on the job description and criteria posted. However, simply repeating the job description is not necessarily going to rank your resume higher. Your resume should use key words and phrases from the job description but with additional information that expands on your performance in your role (how well, how much, impact). This also means that you may be tailoring your resume slightly for each job by comparing your resume to the job description and criteria and the way the job specifically describes criteria. There are also on-line tools to rate how well your resume matches the job description.
